Yunnan is one of the main producing areas for camellia in China. Chuxiong, known as the birthplace of camellias in Yunnan, has won the bid to host International Camellia Fair in 2005.
On Mar 22 of 2005, the International Camellia Conference at Lausanne of Switzerland voted to choose Chuxiong as the host city of 27th International Camellia Fair. Chuxiong therefore became the second honored Chinese city to undertake this event after Jinhua, a city of Zhejiang Province. (Editor: Ryan Li)
