The price hike of breakfast in recent years has got many complaints in Kunming. And 80% of residents dissatisfy with the sanitation and serving speed of restaurants.

Reporters conduct a survey through questionnaires. Feedback from 268 questionnaires shows that about 50% of interviewees eat rice noodle in the morning. About 90% said, due to the price growth of raw materials and shop rental, the price of breakfast had grown up. About 80% of them were unsatisfied with sanitation and services in restaurants.

Five years ago, a bowl of rice noodle with stewed meat cost 3 yuan. Now it costs at least 5 yuan. Most people have to change eating habits in the morning.

The questionnaire covers the following fields: What do you have for breakfast? How much does one breakfast cost? What is your anticipating price for one breakfast? Are you satisfied with your breakfast? What are the reasons for price growth in your opinion?

According to the survey, about 50% of residents have rice noodle in the morning. Another 40% choose noodle, steamed buns and bread. The remaining 10% did not tell what they choose for breakfast.

Mr. Li said, “Local people always eat rice noodle. We feel uncomfortable without it. We do not like to have steamed buns.” Li’s wife said, “It costs 2 yuan to buy rice noodle to cook at home for the whole family’s breakfast. But it costs nearly 20 yuan in a rice noodle shop for three of us.”

Li Hong came to Kunming one month ago from Zhaotong Prefecture. She said, “In urban areas of Kunming, a bowl of rice noodle costs about 6 yuan. But in Zhaotong, it costs 3 yuan. I have to skimp because I have poor earning.

About 90% of interviewees said, the price of breakfast has grown up due to the price growth of raw materials and shop rental. Mrs. Zhang and Mr. Wang are from Hunan Province. They opened a breakfast shop in Kunming. Wang said, “The price of breakfast has been changing year by year. Some buyer asked us why a smashed bean bun costs 0.8 yuan? In my opinion, the price growth of raw materials and shop rental is the main fueler of the price hike.”

According to Zhang, a bag of 25 kg flour cost 63 yuan in 2010. In 2011, it costs 80 yuan. A pot of liquefied gas cost 75 yuan a few years ago. Now it costs at least 125 yuan. In 2010, a bag of 50kg custer sugar cost 200. It costs 370 yuan in 2011.

In the survey, 56% of residents would like to spend 3 to 5 yuan to have breakfast. About 14% accept 1 to 2 yuan and 16% accept 5 to 8 yuan. Only 14% would like to spend over 8 yuan to have breakfast.

Only 34 of interviewees have breakfast at home. About 39% have breakfast in shops. Mrs. Qin said, “It is worthy if breakfast shops are neat and tidy. I am very afraid of uncleanness.” She usually cooks at home. About 80% are unsatisfied with sanitation and services in restaurants.
