MKMT is an underground art happening which began as a monthly community event in downtown Vancouver. Participants, guests, featured artists, and MKMT staff collaborate to co-create a magical once-in-a-lifetime event. Each tea event is videotaped and photographed as part of a feature-length documentary and exhibition books. Guest artists from around the world have contributed their time and talents to this endeavor.
The project in it's entirety is the conceptual art of Natasha Marin, who seeks to create anti-exclusive art experiences that honor the tradition of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. Please note: this project would not be possible without the significant contributions of all those who participate. Special thanks go to: Kelly O, Lord Loxley, Dafang Jiang, Jamie Lee Fuoco, Oliver Strong, Kathryn Sainsbury, and Chloe R. whose professionalism and dedication are unrivaled.
The first Midnight Tea was held on December 13, 2008. It was freezing. But it was beautiful.
